The Free legal aid project presented draft thematic report “Economic empowerment of returnees to Serbia”
The EU funded project “Legal aid, assistance and dissemination of information necessary for ensuring and exercising of rights if IDPs, refugees and returnees”, whose beneficiary institution is the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, presented on the 24th of June 2020 in Belgrade a thematic report “Economic empowerment of returnees to Serbia” and a panel discussion on reintegration of returnees upon readmission agreements.
Ales Zupan, author of the report, presented the analysis of various segments and directions in which is possible to achieve improvement when it comes to reintegration of returnees. He emphasized that giving them equal position on labor market would increase chances for employment or self-employment. The report offers some examples of current opportunities and good practices in Serbia and explores roles of different institutions and other parties involved with this process.
The event was opened by Jelena Rajcevic from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija after which the representative of Commiserate for Refugees and Migration Dejan Milisavljevic, the president of “Liga Roma” and an expert on the project Maja Simeonovka gave their perspectives on this topic.
