The project team works on ensuring the protection of property and human rights of internally displaced persons from Kosovo* in places of residence before the conflict, which are guaranteed to them by domestic and international regulations.

Expert legal assistance for IDPs is most often needed in resolving the following cases:

  • Illegally occupied property;
  • Sale of property based on falsified documents;
  • Property restitution and compensation for material and non-material damages;
  • Privatisation and liquidation issues of social enterprises.

The project team provides free legal assistance to IDPs who approach the project, including:

  • Preparation and submission of legal documentation, i.e., submissions and notices;
  • Representation before courts and other relevant institutions in Kosovo*;
  • Provision of legal advice and relevant information;
  • Obtaining documentation from institutions in places of origin;
  • Field visits when IDPs are unable to reach project offices.
