THE PROJECT PRESENTED ITS ACTIVITIES TO RETURNEES IN BUJANOVAC

The Free legal aid Project, in collaboration with the local civil association “Romski humanitarni centar”, organized on the 4th of June 2020 the Open door event for returnees upon readmission agreements in Bujanovac.

At the very beginning of the event, the legal team of the project presented to attendees the mandate of the project, explained some of the most frequent legal issues returnees are faced with upon return to Serbia, as well as the project’s activities toward assisting them resolve those issues. The president of the association Sukrija Demirovic addressed the gathered emphasizing that a significant number of returnees does not possess any personal document and has problems obtaining them.

On this occasion, the legal team had individual meetings with returnees who have legal issues and need professional assistance resolving them. A total of 14 potential beneficiaries presented their situations to the team, who filled out applications for providing free legal aid for all of them.

The Open door in Bujanovac are the fourth open door the project has organized so far. During previous period, the project organized the open door in Srbobran, Beocin and Vladicin Han, and is planning to have this type of informational events in other municipalities with higher number of internally displaced persons, refugees and returnees upon readmission agreements.
