
FREE LEGAL AID FOR RETURN FAMILIES AND IDPS IN SUBOTICA AND BAJMOK
Mobile team from the free legal aid project’s Belgrade office visited on the 11th of June 2021 returnees upon readmission agreements in Subotica and Bajmok.
The team of a Senior Legal Advisor Vladimir Mojsilović, Senior Expert for community outreach Maja Simeonovksa and Junior Readmission Expert Anđelka Orović met with two returnees and one internally displaced person who needed a legal assistance regarding the issuing of their personal documents and registering with the birth and citizens’ register.
Upon meetings in Subotice, the team had a total of 8 meeting with potential beneficiaries of the project in Bajmok who mainly sought legal assistance for obtaining an ID and registering in birth and citizens’ register. One legal advice was given to a returnee whose legal issue is not under the project’s mandate.
This field visit is organized in collaboration with the Subotica based civil association “Edukativni centar Roma”, which signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the project in May this year, as well as representatives of the elementary school “Vuk Karadzic” in Bajmok. Apart from “Edukativni Centar Roma”, the project so far has signed the MoUs with several associations working with Roma population throughout Serbia with purpose to increase a reach-out among returnees who need legal assistance to exercise their rights and integrate in their environment upon return to Serbia.
