FIELD VISIT TO BABUSNICA I PIROT

Junior Legal Adviser Maja Simeonovska and trainees Miljana Mladenović visited on October 23, 2017 internally displaced people and refugees in Babušnica and Pirot who have some legal problem, but due to bad health of financial conditions are not able to visit the nearest project office.

Legal team met in Babušnica with two refugees from Croatia and BiH whose legal problems are not in the project’s mandate, so they were referred to the relevant organization. The team also spoke with four displaces people from KiM and determined that three of them have unsolved property issue, while one person has a labor dispute. The mobile team met with the trustee for refugees and migrations in Babušnica in order to present to him in more details the purpose and activities of the project.

After visit to Babušnica, the free legal aid team met in Pirot with four IDPs from Kosovo and Metohija. Two of them presented their legal problems regarding the property in KiM and two want to exercise their labor rights. The application for free legal aid was filled out of all the clients and documentation needed for opening the cases was collected.

On the suggestion of the trustee, the team offered legal advice via telephone to a few refugees from Croatia and BiH and referred them to a partner organization providing assistance for legal issues in their country of origin.
The visits to Babušnica and Pirot are a part of the activates of the EU funded project “Protection and Promotion of Property Right of Internally Displaces People, Refugees and Returnees Upon Readmission Agreements”, implemented in collaboration with local trustees for refugees and migrations with purpose to increase availability of free legal aid for the vulnerable groups
